Hello! My name is Cherie Uber and I teach 2nd grade at Ellsworth Hill Elementary.  I have taught 2nd grade for the past 5 years and love coming to school each day. My bachelor's degree is from the University of Akron and my master's degree is from Ashland University. My teaching background includes a wide variety of experiences. I have taught 5th and 6th grade at an all boys military academy in Indiana, 8 years of 1st grade at St. Hilary, tutored children at Akron Child Guidance Center and taught 6th grade language arts here at the Hudson Middle school on the Green Community. I was honored to receive a Shining Apple award in 2004 and a Distinguished Teacher award in 2006. My philosophy of education is to ensure a quality education for each individual student. To recognize that students learn in different ways and to meet each student's needs by utilizing a multi-sensory approach to learning. I weave respect, responsibility, honesty and caring into the curriculum and foster a nurturing environment in which all children can learn and grow to reach their highest potential. Besides teaching, I practice yoga, enjoy walking in my neighborhood, reading a good book, gardening and getting together with family and friends. Together, my husband Larry and I have 5 children and 8 grandchildren, 2 of which were born this summer! Larry and I traveled to Italy for two weeks in June and it certainly was our "trip of a lifetime". I look forward to a fun filled and busy school year!
