Forty years ago I student taught at Evamere in second grade. Upon my graduation from Kent State University I was hired as a third grade teacher at Hudson Elementary. Hudson Elementary at that time housed all of third grade and half of fourth grade. Seventy- seven percent of the land in Hudson was vacant and the prediction was that the school system was going to grow, that was an understatement! I taught third grade for seven years and watched our grade level grow from eight teachers to fifteen. I left to raise my two daughters but remained active in education teaching preschool for seven years, two of those years at the First Congregational Church in Hudson. In 1991 I returned to the Hudson schools teaching half time second grade and the following year moved to first grade. I received my Master degree from Marygrove College in 2006.
I live in Stow with my husband Jim and our three cats Rosy, Jazmine and Mickey and our dog Joey, all who were rescued from shelters. Both my daughters are currently teachers, Kristen in the Revere School District and Kara in Detroit.
Through the years it has been interesting to see Hudson grow and change. One thing that has remained constant is the excellence of the school system and the wonder and excitement the children have for learning.
