Welcome to Mr. Trump's Web Page
Can you find me in my fourth grade class?
Hint #1: My mom told me to wear a tie on picture day.
Hint #2: I did not wear glasses in fourth grade.
Hint #3 I am not in the top row.
My wife and I moved to Hudson in 1980. I was director of the Motor Development Center at Kent State University. I never studied a single car or motor since "motor development," in physical education, is the study of human movement and neuromuscular systems. (a little phys.ed. humor) This experience helps me now when I plan lessons for my fourth and fifth grade students. I develop lessons that challenge what their bodies are able to do as nine, ten and eleven year olds. So, in other words, I make all physical education activities developmentally appropriate.
Working at a college was great, but I soon realized I wanted to teach elementary school. For fifteen years, I taught K-4 physical education and coached high school volleyball and wrestling at Northwest Local Schools. While working at Northwest, I completed my classroom teaching certificate. I began teaching at Evamere and East Woods in 1993, and a few years later joined the East Woods staff full-time. I really like teaching children of all skill levels. One of my favorite things to teach is the Climbing/Balance unit. It is exciting to watch my students improve on the climbing wall, balance boards and unicycles.
My wife teaches physical education at Mayfield Middle School, and also has her master's degree in Motor Learning. This makes for some very interesting dinner conversations! We like to hike, bike, fish and water garden. Our children attended Hudson schools and are member of the "13 Year Club." My daughter graduated from Ohio University with a teaching degree, and my son will head to OU in the fall.
