Greetings! My name is Nancy Simpson. I live in Brecksville with my husband, Rick. I have three stepchildren (who are now adults) and two grandsons. My husband and I enjoy boating, skiing, reading, traveling, and visiting with family and friends. In addition to teaching, I also enjoy gardening and golfing.
My teaching career began in Hudson after receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education from Kent State University in 1978. Most of my career has been at the second grade level, although I have taught fourth and fifth graders. During the summer months, I enjoy taking classes, facilitating online college classes, and instructing teachers in other school districts. I consider myself a lifelong learner and have earned a Masters of Science in Education from the University of Akron plus many additional hours of credit from Miami University, Ursuline College, and Ashland University.
The awards I have received include Hudson's Distinguished Teacher Award, Shining Apple Award, and the Ohio Presidential Award for Excellence in Elementary Mathematics. The greatest reward has been the "Lightbulb Look" presented to me by children upon them learning something new.
A good book is like a good friend - you never get tired of visiting it.
