Hello! My name is Mrs. Francy Sears. My educational background includes a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Akron and a Master's Degree in classroom instruction from Ashland University. I have a wonderful husband and 3 children, 2 sons and a daughter. I also have 3 grandchildren.
I consider myself a lifelong learner as I love to take courses to learn more about the field of teaching. I have taught third, fourth, and fifth grade. I really enjoy teaching third grade at McDowell. The boys and girls are such fun to work with.
I have served on many committees since beginning my teaching career in Hudson Schools. I was the math coordinator for 5 years. I had the opportunity at this time to attend the national NCTM math convention in Chicago. This was definitely a highlight of my career. I also served on the Strategic Planning committee twice. The first time I was on academics and technology. The second time I worked on facilities. I have been the chairperson for the McDowell Sunshine committee for many years. I love helping others and I love working with all the committee members. I am currently the PTO teacher representative for our building.
I have been a recipient of the Hudson Distinguished Teacher award. I have also been nominated by a former student for the Ashland Oil award. I received a certificate for this nomination. I am listed in Who's Who among American teachers.
I believe each child is special and has special gifts. Together, we can make extraordinary things happen during our year together. I instill responsibility in each of my students as well as teach them organizational skills. I want my students to love learning. I also want each child to respect himself and others. I believe each child is unique, thus I do not have the same rules or expectations for all.
In my spare time, I enjoy visiting with friends and family. I love to read and enjoy playing games such as Dominoes and Boggle.
