The Parent Mentor Program is funded through a grant from the Ohio Department of Education.
The Hudson City Schools Parent Mentor provides resources, information and support to families of children receiving special education services. There is also available information for recreational opportunities as well as community based support. The link to the Ohio Parent Mentor website is to the left under Parent Menotr Program Information.
In order to provide you with the most useful information that is specific to your child's needs, you may choose to be on the parent mentor email list. This is a way to share up to date information specific to your child’s needs, including programs , services and community resources.

Presenter: Dr David Meichenbaum, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Director of Community Consulting & Clinical Services, Summit Educational Resources, Buffalo, New York
Dr. David Meichenbaum is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in the diagnostic evaluation and treatment of pervasive developmental and disruptive behavior disorders. He is the Director of Community Consulting & Clinical Services at Summit Educational Resources in Buffalo, New York. He received his doctorate of philosophy in Clinical Psychology from University at Buffalo, SUNY, and completed his pre-doctoral internship at Duke University.
Topic: Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorders: Critical Considerations for Fostering Independence, Reducing Challenging Behaviors, and Building Social Skills
Time: 9:30 – 3:00 Lunch Provided at No Charge
This comprehensive workshop is designed to provide evidence-based treatment strategies and tools for Autism Spectrum Disorders from early intervention to addressing ASD in educational settings. Through case-studies, video clips, audience participation and group activities, Dr. Meichenbaum presents practical strategies and applied tools that can be implemented immediately and utilized in their daily interactions and practice. Participants will leave with a framework for fostering independence, developing social skills, and reducing maladaptive behaviors and working collaboratively with team members.
A full day of intensive training experience for parents and educators who want to increase their knowledge and acquire specific intervention skills to maximize the success of their children with autism and severe behavioral challenges.
Through the use of scientific-based strategies and practical, hands-on training, Dr. Meichenbaum gives the audience the key to unlocking the potential of children with autism spectrum disorder and severe behavioral challenges.
