Welcome to Mrs. Raeder's Home Page
Hello, and welcome to fourth grade. I will be your child's Math and Science teacher this year. I want to take this opportunity to share some information about myself and about my goals for students.
I've been teaching in an East Woods' fourth grade classroom since 1998, and have been math facilitator for grade from 1999 to 2010. From John Carroll University, I completed a Post-Baccalaureate certification in Elementary Education in 1998. My undergraduate degree, issued in 1977 from the same university, is a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a Major in Marketing. In May of 2003, I received a Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College. I enjoy sewing, reading, word puzzles and gardening.
Teaching is my second career, one that I carefully considered and consciously chose. My mission as a teacher is to challenge your child to reach his or her potential, both intellectually and emotionally. In keeping with this goal, I will strive to promote a positive self-image in each student, to foster a learning environment that focuses on cooperation and respect, and to individualize educational approaches to meet your child's needs.
Our year is filled with engaging, productive activities. To keep you informed, I will send newsletters home at the start of each Math and Science unit. Hopefully these letters will provide background for family discussions about school activities with your student. As the most important people in your fourth grader's life, you have the most direct influence on his or her social and academic performance. I appreciate all that you do to support your student's educational success.
