Welcome to Class B-3's Website- Mrs. Pergola
My name is Jo Pergola and I am an intervention specialist at Evamere Elementary. After 25+ years teaching, I still feel excited and fortunate to be able to come to a job I love and share "the joy of learning" with my students.
My students need to know I believe in them and I care about them. From day one, I work on building a positive relationship with each of my students. We celebrate their successes and give them encouragement and guidance in areas that are challenging for them. I believe it is important to create a safe and caring classroom environment where there is mutual respect, trust and compassion. I believe in good communication between school and home and with parent support, I know we can be an effective team working together to help your child meet his/her potential. The paraprofessional in our classroom is Mrs. Anita Graham.
I received my B.S. degree in Elementary Education (1-8) and Special Education (K-12 for learning disabilities and behavioral disorders) from the University of Akron. I completed my Masters of Education in Early Childhood at Kent State University in 1995. In 1997 I took a course at the Cleveland Clinic, Teaching the Dyslexic, it was an excellent course with valuable information and methods for teaching children who struggle with reading. I consider myself a life long learner and continue to take classes and often find myself researching and reading articles related to teaching young children to read and write.
My husband Tony and I have three grown sons: Anthony, Rocco and Dino. In case you are wondering, I am not Italian.
Thank you for visiting my website.
