Welcome to six RESPECT Social Studies

We are going to have a great year in social studies!  For my class you will need two folders of the same color with both prongs and pockets.  Also, always keep about ten blank pages of notebook paper inside.   You will keep all the papers handed out in the folder until directed to delete them.   That way you can stay organized and have the papers you need.  You will be getting our textbook soon and need to cover it with the paper bag cover, not a soft book sock, as this type hurts the binding.  This year there are enough books for us to have a classroom set.  Therefore, your copy is to be kept in your locker for use during study hall or kept at home.

Students will also need a low odor dry erase marker in class for review.

Another helpful tool for this class is an erasable black pen.  On maps, labeling is done in either black pen or SUPER fine sharpies.  White out tape is also a great tool to help with errors on maps.

Using the online Holt World Geography textbook is very helpful.  Give it a try.  Use the online e activities to do section questions, chapter and map reviews, and Standard Test Practices for each chapter. The immediate feedback for each question can help you learn the material before tests.

Go to my.hrw.com      Enter your individual user name and password to enter.   Then go to the online textbook.   An added benefit is that this site will give you access to your Holt Literature book as well.

The online textbook information was provided during the week of September 20th.  In class, students practiced accessing and using the site first and then brought home the log in information so they can use it for the rest of the year.   Remember to use my flashcards to study for the quizzes also.
