Welcome to Ellsworth Hill Counseling

I am at Ellsworth Hill Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and can be reached by calling the main office, 330-653-1236 and ask for me, or my email is leightoc@hudson.edu

I will be teaching a total of 13 classes to every homeroom in the building.  These lessons include the following topics:

Kind and mean words (warm fuzzies and cold pricklies), being considerate, how to make an "I" message, how to deal with bullies, respecting others differences, being responsible, stop and think problem solving, and feelings and calming strategies.

The children will also have three lessons on sexual abuse prevention. ( Parents will be offered a meeting for a chance to see these materials before they are taught.  This usually occurs in February.  An announcement of this will be sent home and posted on this website.)

I offer groups throughout the year on a variety of topics such as friendship, changing families (divorce, separation, remarriage), anger control, or others as the need arises.  Children may be in groups at their own request, the request of a teacher or parent.  Parents will be notified of any group involvement requests before children begin.  Groups are generally once a week for 30 minutes for 6-8 weeks.  Group involvement does not become part of any child's record.

Children can request to see me to help solve problems, discuss worries, or to get help solving conflicts.  My mailbox is in the library and they can leave me a note.  I also see children on parent or teacher request.  Parents are not notified about these visits unless a problem arises that needs parental involvement.  Most of these visits are an extension of the classroom lessons being taught to help with each child's skill development.
