Grading
Summative Assessments - 70% of your grade is based tests, quizzes, and any projects that we might do.
Formative Assessments - 30% of your grade will be based on home work, class work, and labs.
Your grade is then calculated as a weighted average where the summative assessments count for more than twice that of the formative assessments.
Komar's Rules and Procedures
1. Programmable calculators cannot be used on tests or quizzes. Please bring a non-programmable calculator that has the four trig. functions for tests/quizzes. I have a some room calc. that can be borrowed.
2. The hall pass should be used on a limited basis. Please do not get in the habit of using the pass every day.
3. A one-day absence before an assignment is due doesn't necessarily warrant an extension of time. Try to keep up with our schedule even with occassional absences. The same applies to a test or quiz unless new material was introduced during the absence.
4. Anyone that does not take a test or quiz on the regular test/quiz day may receive a make-up test/quiz. The make-up test/quiz may be essay and definition questions or any style of test/quiz and may be more difficult than the original test/quiz.
5. It will be your responsibility to erase completely any changes on Scan-tron sheets. I will glance over them for obvious problems when I am grading them. No changes in your grade will be made after the first few minutes the Scan-tron sheets are passed back
6. Partial credit may be obtained for late work. I it is something we didn't go over, full credit may awarded. If it is something we went over, I will accept it but very few point will be awarded.
7. Tardiness and unexcused absences are dealt with according to school policies.
8. Headings on papers that are being turned on notebook paper need to have the following:
Name
Period
Name of the assignment
Date
9. If you are absent for a lab, get the lab data from your lab partner(s) or from me and complete the lab as soon as possible and turn it in.
10. Outlines of the chapters we do will be required in standard outline form. I would like them hand-written rather than typed.
11. You must show your work/set-up for all of the problems we work, otherwise little or no credit may be awarded.
Inappropriate behavior will be dealt with in the following manner:
1st offense- verbal acknowledgement of the problem
2nd offense- verbal warning with warning of future consequences
3rd offense- P.M. detention is assigned with warning of future consequences
4th offense- Call parent and refer to appropriate principal
