My name is Darlene Knight.  My professional background includes a B.S. in Education from the University of Toledo.  A short time later, I earned a Masters Degree in Reading from Kent State University.  As a lifelong learner, I continue to attend workshops and classes in order to enhance my teaching.

I taught one year at the second grade level.  I have taught first grade for the last sixteen years.  First grade is an exciting year of growth.  My educational goal for each child is to reach his/her full potential. Effective communication and a cooperative partnership between home and school help to achieve this goal.

I am married.  My husband Geoff and I have two children.  Our daughter, Kimberlee, is married to Mike.  Our son, Kevin, is married to Heather.  August 4, 2010,  Kevin and Heather had our first grandchild, Landon Arthur Knight.  Needless to say, our loving pug Buster is no longer top dog.  Each year, I look forward to sharing Buster stories with my students.  Now, of course, there will be stories about Baby  Landon as well.

Some of my interests include reading, writing, walking and shopping.  I love a good bargain!
