Hi! Welcome to my website!
My name is Sue Kazmer and I'm proud to be a Supplemental Reading teacher at Evamere.  I have been teaching in Hudson for 17 years.  Prior to that I was a classroom teacher in Mentor and Cuyahoga Heights.  I obtained my teaching degree from Bowling Green State University and my Master's degree from Kent.

In my position at Evamere I go into each kindergarten class weekly and teach phonemic awareness.  Phonemic awareness is the "official name" given for oral language and auditory discrimination skills, which are critically important in learning to read.  It involves the ability to hear and manipulate individual sounds in words.

In addition to seeing kindergarteners, I also teach several first grade Supplemental Reading classes.  It is such a joy to continue the reading process in a small group environment that encourages support, risk-taking, and positive reinforcement to ensure the success of each young reader.   Students are actively involved in reading leveled books,  writing a response to stories, manipulating magnetic letters, working on sight word vocabulary, fluency passages and Reader's Theatre.  Books are typically sent home each night so that parents can practice with their children at home and see how they are progressing. Questions or concerns can be forwarded by e-mail.  Thank you for visiting my website!
