Hello!
Welcome! My name is Ruth Kane.
My husband, our four children, our dog and I came to Hudson in 1986. Our children have grown up, gone off to college, come back again, and then have left again. When you consider this is the seventh house we have lived in spanning six states, we have had many changes!
I grew up on Long Island, New York. At least once a week during the summer, our family would head to the beaches ten miles away. I graduated with my associates degree from Nassau Community College. I then went to the State University at Oneonta, and received my B.S. in Elementary Education. That September I attendedd Hofstra University, and received my Masters Degree in Special Education. I then married a Marine Corps Officer. After living in Virginia for nine months, we moved to North Carolina where we had two of our four children. Upon leaving the Marine Corps, my husband took a job which caused us to move to Pennsylvania for a year and a half. We then headed to Cincinnati for three years, and had our two youngest children. We lived in Connecticut for three years, and then finally to Hudson, Ohio.
In 1990, I enrolled at Kent State University, and received my Early Education of the Handicapped Certificate. After that I returned to Kent State and received 50+ additional credits in a variety of courses including language arts, math, and special ed classes. From 1993 I have been employed by the Hudson City Schools. I taught 5 years in the Integrated Preschool Program, and have taught 1st grade ever since. I love teaching 1st grade!
