Physical Education
Welcome- The Hudson Middle School Physical Education Department would like to welcome you to our web page. We hope the following information will answer any questions you may have concerning Physical Education. We our proud of the program we have designed for your child and believe it to be one of the best in Ohio. We are also proud of our students who consistently demonstrate responsibility, good sportsmanship, and participation. Join us in promoting for our youth, an active and healthy lifestyle --- not just for school, but for life.
Physical Education Philosophy- "to encourage maximum physical activity and participation; to promote teamwork, responsibility, and sportsmanship; and to ensure that each student develops emotionally and socially, as well as physically."
Class Expectations - Students are expected to demonstrate personal responsibility, respect for self and for others, and an understanding of the daily lesson. We also set the high expectation that students learn to demonstrate cooperation and an "honest effort."
Uniform - Students wear a school-issued uniform to class. Uniforms can be purchased anytime throughout the year from a P.E. teacher ($7.00 shirt/ $7.00 shorts/ $14 set). White socks and athletic shoes are required. In cold weather, students are encouraged to bring sweatshirts/pants to wear over their uniform. Classes go outside for activity the 1st and 4th quarter of the school year.
Locker Room - Students are issued a lock and assigned a locker for the school year to secure their belongings. Locks are "on loan" and must be returned at the end of the school year.
Misplaced Uniform and/or Lock- All uniforms are identified by the students' last names and no one is permitted to wear another's uniform. In the case of locks, they are useless without the combination and students are encouraged to keep their combinations to themselves. With this in mind, it is no surprise that the majority of misplaced uniforms and locks end up in the locker room lost and found. Students are instructed to see a P.E. teacher for assistance as soon as they notice a missing uniform and/or lock.
Medical Excuses- A doctor's note is required for students to be excused from class activity. Students still attend class, dress if possible, and assist the teacher. An individual activity program will be adapted to the student's needs as prescribed by his/her physician. A parent/guardian note is required for a student who, for whatever reason, is not feeling 100%. In this case, participation may be modified for the student.
