7 INTEGRITY MATH HOMEWORK PROCEDURES & EXPECTATIONS

Your math grade

Progress Book will be updated weekly so you can track your current grade in Math.  Grades are calculated and weighted using three types of grades:

·         Homework/Classwork/Participation (20%)

·         Quizzes/Projects (30%)

·         Assessments/Tests (50%)

ACE Homework

Ø  Daily homework is to be completed on a NEW PAGE every day in your math notebook.

·         Only tear it out of your notebook if your table’s homework is collected that day.

Ø  SHOW ALL YOUR WORK, NOT JUST YOUR ANSWER!  LABEL EVERYTHING!  (LABELS TELL ME WHAT IT MEANS!)

·         You will only receive partial credit for HW done with no thought or effort shown!

Ø  It’s OKAY to make mistakes!  We learn from our mistakes!

·         USE a CORRECTING PEN to fix your answers to receive full credit.

Ø  If you do not understand a problem, you must recopy the question in your notebook AND write a note to yourself about what you did not understand.

·         In order to receive full credit, I need to see that you took some time to think about the question.

·         Please attempt the homework problems, if I see “I don’t get it” or “I don’t understand” or “?” everyday, I will know you are not attempting the problems.  *If you do not understand the homeworks, please see me during Team Support.  I love helping you . . .

Ø  Use MLA format to set up all ACE homework assignments.

·         Turn paper over for an example of how to set up your notebook.

OTHER GRADED MATH HOMEWORK

ü  Keep handouts or labsheets to be completed for homework in left pocket of binder until it is collected. 

ü  All graded homework returned to you must be filed away in your homework section in your math binder.  At the end of each unit, we will clean out and organize our binders.

*CHANGE - 2nd quarter - Late work – Please fill out a MISSING ASSIGNMENT SHEET

If you have late work, please finish the next day and turn into the LATE PAPER BIN the next day to receive PARTIAL CREDIT.  Please note, this policy has changed from the 1st quarter, Mrs. Gilanyi will not be allowing MISSING ASSIGNMENT SHEETS during the 2nd quarter.  However, by turning in your LATE work will allow you to recieve PARTIAL CREDIT. 

Absent Work

If you are absent, you need to fill out a “While You Were Out Form”.  The day’s activities will be listed on the homework board, on Mrs. Gilanyi’s webpage and you have the option of speaking with Mrs. Gilanyi directly to update you on the assignments you missed while you were out.  It is your responsibility to make up all work and turn it in the next day (or however many days you were absent).  If it is late, you must fill out a missing assignment form.  Mrs. Gilanyi will not hunt you down for the work.  If you have questions, see a classmate or Mrs. Gilanyi for extra help.
