Welcome to Kindergarten!

It is my desire to help your child succeed to the best of his/her ability in every area of the learning process.

Here's some helpful hints and answers to FAQ to better accomplish that goal:

Backpacks/Folders: Please check backpacks DAILY for papers, notes, or home activities from school.   (Don't forget items on yellow paper should be stored in our G-8 YELLOW PAGES folder for reference throughout the year!)  Please designate one folder that travels back and forth between home and school each day.  You child will be responsible to check it upon each arrival to school for notes, papers to give to me daily and will be expected to to return it home with contents of their mailbox that day.  (all notes, communications should be IN the folder vs. "floating in the book bag").

Personal Belongings: Label coats, backpacks, boots, clothing, etc. We have have had several duplicates in the past (even in size!).

Clothing: Dress your child comfortable & accordingly to the weather - our room may sometimes be warm in early months and chilly through the winter. Shoes for outdoor play are a must - sandals, clogs, etc. can be dangerous on little feet that are running, climbing, sliding, etc. Although we do our best to use washable materials, a sign of fun in Kindergarten may also be a spill on clothing - please plan outfits for your child that are "Kindergarten Wear."

An early bedtime and good breakfast are VERY important to start the day.

Birthdays: Birthdays will be celebrated as we sing Happy Birthday to the child of Honor! Please notify me in advance if you'd like your child's birthday celebrated.  We will include summer birthdays at the end of the school year.

Book Orders: Please make checks payable to the book club only or visit www.Scholastic.com to place your order. No cash please. (Please refer to our Book Club Ordering page on this site).

Communication: I may not be able to check my e-mail or voice mail until the end of the day - please do not send emergency messages using these methods.  Please allow 24 hours to receive a reply as I may at times be in meetings or at class (Thanks for understanding!).

Parent Pick-Up: If you need to pick up your child before the end of the school day, you will need to sign them out in the office. Your child will be called to meet you there.

Buses: Your child will need to wear a bus tag with clear writing/information on it for the first TWO weeks of school. They are responsible for learning and LISTENING for their bus numbers. Pick up and drop off may take much longer the first couple of weeks... please be patient as the children and drivers learn your stops. Please refer to the transportation page of our Hudson website for policies on change of daily transportation. I will send your child on their designated mode of transportation if I don't have a note (or phone call to the office if you forget!) stating otherwise.

Toys:Toys are to be left at home unless it is a special sharing day.  We will send a notice if this is so. If your child is having difficulty transitioning into the school year it would be appropriate to have him/her carry a family photo in his/her backpack. Although they are fun to wear, Silly Bands will be kept until the end of the day if they are not able to stay on arms - they create a potential safety issue if they accidentally fly through the air and sometimes become uncomfortable as children work in many areas of the classroom.

Illnesses: If there is any question about whether or not a child is ill, it is better that they stay home.  Please notify the school if your child has a communicable disease and always remember to call the absence line. Please refer to the Evamere Handbook for details.

THE EVAMERE HANDBOOK IS A GREAT SOURCE OF INFORMATION. IF YOU CANNOT FIND AN ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION, PLEASE CONTACT THE SCHOOL AT 330-653-1226.
