Welcome to Mrs. Farmer's Room B-9!!

Hi!  My name is Lisa Farmer and I am an intervention specialist at Ellsworth Hill Elementary School in Hudson, Ohio.  I have been teaching in the Hudson City Schools for twelve and a half years and feel privileged to be a part of such a fine school system.

I received my bachelors degree in elementary education (grades K-8) from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  I then taught for four years, during which I earned my masters degree in special education (learning disabilities and behavior disorders grades K-12) from John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio.  Having completed my masters degree, I then became a parent and semi-retired to raise my family as a stay-at-home mom for the next eleven years.  During those eleven years I not only raised three children, but also sold Discovery Toys and taught preschool music at three Akron area churches part-time.  I returned to full-time teaching in 1995 when I was hired by Mrs. Dodie Snyder to teach 2nd and 3rd grade students with learning disabilities.

I taught a split 2nd and 3rd grade classroom for seven years, then taught an inclusion third grade classroom with a general education teacher for one year.  I returned to a split 2nd-3rd grade classroom for one year and have most recently taught 3rd grade for the past two years.  I truly love working with students (and their parents) in second and third grade!  Ellsworth Hill is a fabulous new school with remarkable individuals (staff, students, and parents)!  What a wonderful place it is to work!

As previously mentioned, I have three children. My oldest is Michael, who is 22 years old and is pursuing his masters degree in education at the University of Akron.  My daughter, Amy, is 20 years old and is attending Wright State University.  Finally, my youngest son is Steven.  He is a sophomore at Firestone High School in Akron, Ohio.  I also have three dogs!  (Lucky, Nubi, and Bear).  Not only do I love children, but I also love animals!  Thus my students help care for our classroom pet hamsters on a daily basis.  I believe in making learning fun & active for the students in my classroom.
