Children should stay home from school if they have an illness that can be passed on to others.  Check your child in the morning for any signs of illness or if they have been ill within the past 24 hours to determine school attendance.  Below is a list of conditions that are appropriate to keep a student at home from school:
  • Fever
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Rashes
  • Bacterial infections such as strep throat or skin infections
  • Pink eye
  • Severe headache
  • Earache
  • Live lice:  Notify school health staff if you detect lice/nits, or if you have treated your child at home
  • Continuous cough
  • Other:  Unusually tired, pale, confused or irritable, lack of appetite, or unable to function adequately in the classroom.
