Per Ohio Law, House Bill 276 required all school districts to develop and adopt an Anti-Harassment/Intimidation/Bullying policy. District Administrators are required to semi-annually provide a written summary of all reported incidents of harassment, intimidation and/or bullying that takes place in the classroom, on school property, to and from school or at school sponsored events to the President of the Board of Education. Additionally, this same information must be reported to the Ohio Department of Education through EMIS, and posted on our district website. The reporting requirement is limited to the number of verified acts that meet this definition.

The number of verified incidents of harassment, intimidation and bullying for August 25, 2011 through January 19, 2012 was 7.

The fact that these acts of harassment, intimidation, and bullying are being reported is a positive realization for the school district. By addressing these incidents we can ensure a safe environment for our students. The information is also helpful as we continue to find ways to educate our students about bullying, its effects, and consequences. It is also helpful in the education of our staff and parents to recognize bullying behaviors, respond appropriately, be knowledgeable of available resources, and work on prevention.
