Welcome to B-13
I so enjoyed meeting you at our second grade Open House. (Please refer to the classroom handbook to refresh your memory as the year progresses.)
Here is another way to introduce myself, but this time, in writing. My maiden name is Hudson, so I feel a special connection with this place! When I was little, I told everyone who would listen my grandpa was the one to discover Hudson Bay. After all, Henry . . . Harry. . . What's the difference??!!
My alma mater is Wittenberg University where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I also earned my "Mrs." degree a year later! My first classroom--this one of fifith graders--was in Defiance, Ohio which still holds a special place in my heart. I said "good-bye" to four years of teaching, to become a mother of four. This profession took precedence for a good while, until our youngest proclaimed her innate independence as a kindergartner. I became involved with Adult Basic Education, first as a literacy tutor and then as an English as a Second Language teacher.
A return to the elementary classroom was never in question. Evamere Elementary was where I hung my shingle for one year with a move to McDowell Elementary the following year. In the fall of 2007, I made the move to Ellsworth Hill. I have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Malone College under my belt--the better to serve your child and my colleagues.
The classroom is a living thing--thanks to the students whose ideas, energy, and productivity make it so. Go to Classroom Procedures to get a feel of how the learning environment operates.
