5/21/12

Dear Families,

What a beautiful weekend.  Hope you have been able to get outside some.

We had a FANTASTIC response to the bracelet sale that will benefit St. Bakhita Primary School in Mackline's village of Kabingo.  So far we have close to $1400 dollars.  Thank you to all who have supported this cause.  The children are so excited.  Every student on the team was able to participate in some way and they can be so very proud of their efforts.  You can be proud of them too.

Language Arts

No Talking by Andrew Clements is the current choice for both LA classes.  It is a great experiment.  Be sure to ask your children about it.

Wow!  The children did another great job flexing their memory muscles.  The poems were beautifully memorized this week.  Next week one of the poets we will look at is A. A. Milne, the author of Winnie the Pooh.  Many of the children did not know that he wrote poetry.

This week we will be doing the District Writing Assessment.  We will use Mrs. DeLeo's very cool memory bulletin board.  We will write a personal narrative of our whole school year.

Math Curses are just about done.  Many children are completely finished with the books and most are nearly there.  Math Curse Sharing Day is Thursday.  You will love the books.

Social Studies

Overall the children did a good job on the Social Studies quiz.  It will come home for a signature on Monday.  We are on to economics.  This will be our last unit of the school year.

Miscellaneous

We have a great week in store as we wind down this exciting year.  Thanks for all you do to encourage your children.

Sincerely,

Jennie Antes
