DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23,  2014

Attention All Seniors! 
We are raffling off the following three items for Prom:

  • 1. Tux Rental from Jabbours
  • 2. Hair updo/blow out and manicure from Lucia's the Salon on Main
  • 3. Corsage and Boutonniere from Molly Taylor designs.
  • Ticket costs are:  $1 per ticket or 6 tickets for $5.  Tickets will be sold Monday through Friday, (4/21-25), during all lunch periods next week by the Senior Atrium.  The drawing will be held on Friday after the last lunch period. 

EXTRACURRICULAR:

Science Olympiad will meet after school Thursday in C-115 for final preparations for States competition.  This is a mandatory meeting for all going to Columbus this weekend.

Model UN
will hold its final two official meetings of the year this Thursday and next.  Applications to become officers for next year are now available from Mrs. Von Ville or Mr. Hill.  Elections will be held on Thursday 5/1.

Herff-Jones
will be in the Commons to distribute Graduation Announcement orders during all lunch periods on Tuesday, April 29.  If you ordered announcements, be sure to pick them up!

A big thank you to Girls' and Boys' Track and Lacrosse Teams for the massive recycling turn-out on Earth Day. Due to next week's class meetings, no team recycling will take place on April 29 during Explorer Period. Thanks, again.

Students participating in The Apprentice should bring their team business plan and budget to today's meeting in room C-212 at 3:00 p.m.  Only two of the six teams have submitted.  Also, checks for the banquet are due at Wednesday's meeting.

The Hudson Community First Hudson High School Youth Advisory Board, in conjunction with Hudson Kiwanis and Hudson Friends of the Parks, is sponsoring a Community Service Day on Saturday, May 3.  This is a community-wide service day is open to ALL students and parents from  all  Hudson Schools.  Click on the following links for complete details and to sign-up:  Sign-Up Info     Service Day Flyer    Service Day Details

Due to a staff meeting, the Health/Wellness Club meeting has been rescheduled for after school next Tuesday (4/29), in room C-113.

Applications for next year's Explorer Newspaper editors are due by Monday, May 5. See Mrs. Stiffler in room C-203 to pick up or drop off an application.

The Senior Art Show will be held on Thursday  6:30 - 8:00 p.m. and on Friday (4/25), periods 1 through 10, in C-40, Mrs. Huber's Art room, in the basement.  Be sure to stop down and see the awesome senior art work.  This truly is an amazing event!

Student Government interviews are before and after school today.  Those running for office, must  sign up outside the Main Office. The interview is an important part of the process. If you miss the interview, your name WILL NOT be on the ballot!

The Book Club will meet today  after school in room C-206.  We will be discussing the book, One More Thing.  Please join us!

If you are a Freshman or Sophomore running for Class Officer for 2014-2015, you MUST sign up to have your speech taped. Taping will take place in the Library today. See Mrs. Bencheck in the Library for more information.

Tickets for "Thoroughly Modern Millie" the musical are on sale in the bookstore through April 25.  Bookstore hours are:  Mon/Fri - 10:50 a.m. 1:10 p.m., Tues - 11:10 a.m. - 1:20 p.m., Wed/Thur - 11:13 a.m. - 1:25 p.m.  Come out and see this toe-tapping show!  For details, please click on the following:  Thoroughly Modern Millie

Wipe out your fine at the library has been extended through April.   Bring in a box of tissue in lieu of paying a fine.  Overdue books must be returned and lost books paid for to qualify. 


ATHLETICS:

The Hudson Athletic Booster Club is conducting its annual mulch sales drive to support Hudson High School Athletics.  Mulch is available in bulk or bags for free delivery within Hudson City School Limits.  April 28 is the deadline for ordering bags of black mulch or Pine Bark Mini Nuggets (9 bags equals 1 yard) for delivery May 10 by Hudson Athletes.  Bags, like last year, are only $5 each for black mulch and $6 each for the Pine Bark Mini Nuggets.  You can order mulch in bulk (by truck) with a 5 yard minimum order.  Order early, but bulk orders can be ordered through June.  Orders can be taken by any Hudson Student Athlete, mailed to P.O. SENIORS:

Seniors!  Be sure to check the lost of Seniors posted on the window of the Guidance office for those who have earned an Honors Diploma.  If there is a correction to the list, please tell someone in the Guidance Office.   Your verification will be needed on a variety of items before graduation.  Look for an email whenever additional lists/requests become available.  

An email was sent to parents via Naviance regarding completion of a scholarship information form. In order to be certain everyone is included, a scholarship form is available on the following link.  Be sure to complete and return this form to Guidance.  This information is collected and used for the Awards Ceremony and our school profile.  We ask that seniors be certain to check every list posted on the windows of the Guidance Office over the next few weeks for pertinent information.   Scholarship Form 2014

Seniors!  Check the Guidance Office window for the Honors Diploma list.  If you feel there is a mistake please let the Guidance Office know.

Seniors!   Time to start turning in your baby picture  to be displayed on the After Prom  Baby Wall.  Remember:

  • Photos will not be returned
  • Size should be limited to 5X7
  • Put your name on the back of your picture
  • Drop them off in the box provided in the  Main Office by April 25

Juniors!  Join us in A-111 for a Senior/Junior Panel about selective schools, the military academy, and challenges associated with the college application process on Tuesday (4/22), during Explorer.

Students grades 9-11 who are interested in attending a military service academy can attend an informational session at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (4/26), at Horizon Science Academy, 6000 Marginal Road, Cleveland.  RSVP to Sen. Sherrod Brown's Office at 216-522-7272.

Apply early to 2015 Young Arts Program at YoungArts.org/apply. Emerging artists in grades 10-12 are eligible. Categories are cinema, dance, design, jazz, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice and writing. The deadline is October 17, 2014.
