FYI:

 Auditions for Jazz Band will be held in the band room on Tuesday, September 14, right after school. Anyone interested in being a member of Jazz I, Jazz II, or Jazz Lab should audition. Pick up your audition music in the band room.

Tryouts for the fall play, The Miracle Worker, will be held next week Wednesday and Thursday after school. Scripts may be checked out overnight from the library/media center. all auditions will be a "cattle call" format. See Mrs. Foulkes for details.

The Back To School Dance for all HHS student  will be on Friday,  September 10, from 9:00 - 11:00 p.m. (after the home football game)  in the Auxiliary Gym.   Admission is $1.00

Yearbooks are in and may be picked up in room C-60 during your free periods.  Graduated Seniors yearbooks are available for pick up by parents, siblings,  or the graduate in the Main Office. 

Class ring orders will be taken today from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Commons.  Order packets are available in the Main Office.

Applications for the 20th annual Leadership Conference are due in the main office today!

Seniors Only:

Seniors- Now is the chance to meet with college reps from various schools. Get trained to serve as a college rep host this Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. in the Guidance Classroom A-111. Come early to sign up for your first choice college to host!   All seniors are welcome.

Seniors - Ohio Wesleyan Univ is accepting nominations for its Honors College. Please email your counselor to be nominated if you are in the top 10% of your class and have a minimum SAT of 1240 or ACT of 27.

All college-bound seniors and their parents should attend a session of  SENIOR VOYAGE, presented by the counselors, on September 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium.  

Seniors, you are required to attend a Senior Workshop.   Sign up for a session in the Counseling Office beginning today!.   Workshops begin September 9 through September 23.


Meetings for the Week:

The  Knitting Club will meet on Monday, September 13, from 3 - 4 p.m. in room A-118. New members are welcome.


News From Guidance:

 Purdue University Women in Engineering Program invites you attend "See Purdue" on October 4 in West Lafayette. Register online at www.purdue.edu/wiep before Sept 24.

Students who are interested in attending the National Young Leaders Conference or the National Youth Forum on Medicine can sign up in the Counseling Office to have information mailed to them. Deadline is Sept 17.

 Ohio University is sponsoring the Ohio Chemistry Contest on November 13.   Seniors can earn scholarships to OU. Apply at www.ohio.edu/chemcontest

Congressman Steve LaTourette is sponsoring a Military Academy Information Day on September 18 at 9:30 a.m. at Auburn Career Center. Stop by the counseling office for a flyer.

Cleveland State University is sponsoring "Discover What Engineers Do and Explore CSU Too" on Saturday, September 18.  Students, parents and educators from all Six District Compact High Schools are invited to attend.  A free bus from CSU will pick up visitors at 9:30 a.m. in the Hudson High parking lot and will return at 2:00 p.m.  A free lunch will also be provided. Call 216-687-5272 by September 10 to register.

Driver Education from HCER will be offered each month of the school year. This is the class required by the State of Ohio. Classes begin September 8. For more information, or to register on line, visit www.hudson.edu/hcer.

 We are looking for responsible students to be office runners for the guidance and main offices during study hall. A quarter credit of community service is earned for this service. Students should stop by the guidance office to sign-up.

Sport Meetings & Updates:
 
* All boys who ran track last spring should stop by the athletic office to up your memory book and cd. Be sure to sign out your copy.

* Anyone interested in playing Ice Hockey should attend the mandatory meeting in room, A-215 after school on Wednesday, September 8.   See Coach Bartley with any questions.

* Archery Club will meet in Wrestling Room on Thursday, September 9,  at 7p.m.

 Presale tickets for Friday's football game at Uniontown Lake are on sale in the Athletic Office. $7.00 for reserved seats and $3.00 for students.
 
All boys interested  in going out for Boys' Basketball this season and are not currently in a fall sport,should  meet after school today in room A-216.

All boys interested in playing Boys' Baseball in the spring should attend short organizational meeting on Tuesday, September 7, after school in room C-212 (note room change)  to discuss weight lifting and open field opportunities this fall.

School/Community Groups: 

 The After-Prom committee will be selling raffle tickets for  "Couch Potato Seats" for each home football game. The couch will be placed near the end zone and pizza will be served at half-time. Ticket prices are $3 each or 2 for $5 and will be on sale before the Senior Voyage and at home football games.

 The After-Prom committee is looking for volunteers. Sign-up sheets will be available before the Senior Voyage and Open House.
 
The Hudson Explorer Rocket Boosters is a new support organization in the school district that seeks funding from grants and corporations to organize STEM extracurricular events and opportunities for Hudson students. These events include the STEM Project Fair and FIRST Robot teams in the Middle and High School and will include other events as we grow.
