Snuggle Up and Read with Dad!

Friday, March 12th  7:00 – 8:30PM

Evamere’s PTO is sponsoring a special night for Evamere’s students to share the importance of reading with their dads, uncles, grandfathers, or significant others.  Our theme this year is A to Z With Dad!   Each room will have books associated with a particular letter.

This event is only for Evamere students and their one significant other.  Doors open at 6:40 pm; the program will begin promptly at 7:00 pm.  Please give yourself time to find parking.  A snack and milk will be provided at the end.  Questions?  Call Lori Kellett 330.650.3776, Renee Logue 234.380.1396, Kami Imes 380.653.5015 or Jenny Mertes 330.655.4361

We need you!  Openings in all schools!

The Hudson PTO is currently looking for interested volunteers for the 2010/2011 school year.  If you would enjoy working in the schools along side other parents and school administrators, PTO may be for you!  PTO is an organization dedicated to excellence in serving the Hudson City Schools.  This past year, PTO raised thousands of dollars to support our schools.  Whether you are new to the community or have lived in Hudson for years, this is a great way to get involved.

If you are interested in finding out more, please contact PTO representatives Anne Mau (216) 535-9008, amau@roadrunner.com or Kerrie Orazen (330) 653-3393, Orazen@roadrunner.com.

Notes from Mr. Wilson......

The school year has passed by so quickly.  As of the end of January we have been in school for half a year already.  The beginning of the third grading period is now upon us.  Where has the time gone!!! The movie night on Friday, January 29th was a success and our next one is scheduled for this Friday, February 5th starting at 7:00 p.m.  Thank you for our PTO for sponsoring this evening and also for the wonderful goodies that everyone enjoys during the evening.  If you haven’t attended OR you are  planning on attending you may want to bring blankets for the children to lie on as they watch the movie.  The movie is entitled “Snow Buddies” and it rated “G”, doors open at 6:30 and the movie begins at 7:00 p.m.  We have a few items on our calendar for the month of February with our Safety classes starting up next week along with our Valentine’s Day parties that are on the 12th in the PM, with the exception of the  AM Kindergarten that will have theirs in the morning.  Due to the extreme cold temperatures that we have been experiencing over the past couple of months, please make sure to remember the following when sending your children to school:  hats, boots, gloves, and a winter jacket.  This will prevent our younger children from getting frostbite.  As the winter chill lingers and traces of spring start to appear, celebrate the joy and laughter of your child as he/she brings warmth into your home.  Thank you to all of you who helped us raise money for our “Helping Hands for Haiti” relief fund.  Our drive took approximately 3 days and within that time span we collected almost $2,000.00 which will be sent to the American Red Cross to assist many of those in need.  Thank you again for your generous donations to this worthwhile cause.  Laugh, smile, talk, hug, and enjoy!!!  Each and every student at Evamere is an asset to our school community and brings sunshine into our halls each and every day.  Thank you for your partnership and allowing us to be successful!

  PTO News

Thanks to everyone who attended our annual Movie night, even with the snow, we had over 175 children and their parents enjoy snuggling up, eating popcorn and watching “Snow Buddies”.  Thanks also to Regal Hudson Cinema for donating the popcorn for both of our movie nights.

Our next PTO Event will be Snuggle Up and Read with Dad on Friday, March 12th from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  This is a favorite with the dads and children where we set aside a special night to focus on Reading.  We have over 35 readers that volunteer their evening to be special storytellers.  So please send in your registration form to reserve your spot.   If you have any questions, or you’re interested in helping out with this event, please contact Lori Kellett at 330-650-3776 or lkellett@roadrunner.com.

The Hudson PTO is planning the 53rd Annual Pancake Breakfast.  This community-wide fund-raiser will be Saturday, March 6th at the High School Commons from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Tickets can be purchased ahead of time from The Learned Owl Book Shop on Main Street, or from any 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader, or at the door the day of the event.  This is PTO’s biggest fundraising event which provides money for grants given to the Hudson City Schools.

Please keep sending in your Box Tops, we will continue to collect them through April.  Thanks for all your support!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your Head Reps Melissa Ford at 330 342-9854 or mcford12000@gmail.com or Jennifer Mertes 330 655-4361 or jmmertes@msn.com.

 VIP News You can Use!

Thank you to the many parents who volunteered with Valentine's parties in February. The kids and teachers appreciated the fun, food and games provided.

Thanks also goes out to all of our VIP volunteers who helped with Kindergarten Registration.  We had parents giving incoming Kindergarteners and their families tours of Evamere.  We appreciate your help in welcoming them.

Don't miss Kindergarten Orientation on April 15 and 1st Grade Orientation on April 29.  You will learn more about VIP, the YEA Center, our Lunch Parent volunteer program and much more!! It will also be your opportunity to sign up for VIP and get involved.  We will need volunteers now and throughout the summer as we already start preparing and planning for the next school year.

If you moving on from Evamere next year, make sure you plan on getting involved with VIP at Ellsworth and the other schools throughout the district.  Each school has its own, unique VIP Program designed specifically to meet the needs at that particular school.
