Afterschool Circuit & Strength Training

Instructor:  Charlotte Murray

Looking to burn more calories and feel FIT and Healthy?  Join this 60-minute class which alternates between circuit training and a muscle-toning workout each week. Both feature a warm-up, challenging upper and lower body toning with resistance, core stability training and traditional abdominal routines as well as pilates-based moves followed by stretching to cool down. The circuit workout offers a great cardio component as well.  Participants use dumbbells, exertubes and their own body weight to provide resistance while working out to motivating music. Fitness tips are provided on all exercises for those needing to modify the workout.  Participants need to bring their own weights, mats and water bottles to class.  Exertubes will be provided at class. Limit 24.

This shallow water aerobic workout uses every muscle in your body. Combine aerobics activity and flexibility in a great one-hour, total body workout. Use this workout to cross train for any sport!

Beginning Yoga with Jenni Harris

Belly Dancing

Instructor:  Visions of the Nile Staff

Bellydance is for women of all shapes, sizes and ages. Bellydance is about celebrating femininity and how your body moves. In these classes you will learn the basics of belly dance. The moves will be broken down into understandable terms so it can be performed correctly. During each segment you will learn choreography to help you practice the moves you will be learning . Each week will be jam-packed so please feel free to bring a notebook to take notes.

Geri-Fit (for older adults)

Discover why strength training is the fountain of youth! Improve strength, stamina, balance and arthritic conditions in this medically-approved strength training exercise for older adults. All senior adult fitness levels are welcome. Exercises may be performed seated in a chair, if needed. No aerobics! Bring a set of 2-pound (each) dumbbells, a water bottle, a stretch band or towel, and an exercise mat to class. Classes are taught by a Certified Fitness Trainer. Hatha Yoga (All Levels)

Yoga will help you play sports, work or sit more comfortably. It will improve your strength, flexibility and balance, as well as help reduce stress and increase your ability to concentrate. The class will challenge yoga students of all levels, from absolute beginner to advanced. Paul Harms has a Ph.D. in Psychology.  He completed Advanced Teacher Training with Yogi Hari in Florida and is registered with Yoga Alliance.

If you answered "yes" to any of these, Jazzercise is for you! Jazzercise combines elements of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, kick-boxing and more to give you a truly effective workout. Strengthen your heart and lungs, increase muscle tone and flexibility, increase your endurance, decrease stress, burn calories...and put a smile on your face! Movements are easy to follow; options for intensity and impact are shown. Entire class can be done low impact. A variety of music provides something for everyone: dance, pop, hip hop, rock, R&B, classics and country.

Come to your first class 15 minutes early to register. Bring a towel or exercise mat and non-breakable water bottle. Good aerobic/cross trainer shoes are recommended.  Weights are optional.

Pilates

Condition the body from the inside out. Learn the importance of core stabilization, muscle balance, proper alignment, strength and flexibility. The use of light weights or small balls are used for additional toning. Please bring a mat along with a set of 2 lb. weighted balls or a set of 2-5 lb. dumbbells. This exercise program is ideal for anyone regardless of age or experience. Wear comfortable clothing.

Attendees will enjoy a short lecture and participate in several demonstrations as well as being able to identify and match their personal learning style to a particular meditation/relaxation technique. Taff will also address "The Busy Mind" which may have created stumbling blocks for some who have tried meditation on their own.
