Start Smart Sports Development for Preschoolers

(Ages 4-5)

Start Smart is a program of the National Alliance for Youth Sports. This program is designed for preschoolers ages 4-5 as their first introduction to sports. The emphasis of this program will be on skill development and creating a fun experience for the child and the parent. This is not a competition based program. One parent must accompany each child and will also learn the basics of youth coaching as they share this experience with their child. The course fee includes equipment and a skills notebook which you will keep in order to continue to practice at home.

Mom & Me Fitness & Tennis (for ages 3-5 and parent)

Have your child learn tennis basics, enhance gross and fine motor skills, and build hand-eye coordination while you take a cardio & conditioning fitness class. Meet other parents of pre-schoolers while you work out in a fun, group environment!

Fee:  $110             12:15 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Little Racquets

This program emphasizes basic tennis, motor and social skills that lead to playing games on "short" courts with miniature nets, foam balls, tail balls (ribbon attached to ball) and junior size racquets.  Children are engaged in energizing activities such as: imaginative obstacle courses, agility ladder relay races, ABC forehand, tennis baseball, forehand, backhand, volley and serve progressions, king/queen of the court, small-net tennis and around the world. Limit 16 per class.

Fee:$85, includes t-shirts and water bottles given to 1st time participants

Hudson T-Birds Tee Ball

3-4 year old boys and girls learn the basics of batting (off a tee), fielding, throwing and catching and apply what they've learned in non-competitive games. Parents are encouraged to assist in the coaching and are provided with practice plans and assistance in coaching young children. You do not need to wait until the Registration Fair to enroll in this program.

Fee: $80, includes Major League hat, team shirt, and trophy

Little Hoop Stars

Children ages 4-6 years old learn the basics of dribbling, passing, shooting and defense and apply what they've learned in non-competitive games. Coaching is run by Jump Start Sports staff, but parents are encouraged to assist in the coaching and are provided with practice plans and literature to aid them.

 Limited to 40 players.

Fee: $75, includes team shirt and trophy

Sessions begin at either 6:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. and last one hour.  All teams will have a schedule including both time periods.

This course is intended to develop high comfort levels in and around the water, and a readiness to swim. A parent is required to get into the water.

Note: Preschool swim lessons are NOT intended to teach children to be accomplished swimmers or survive in the water. Skills build on Infant/Toddler skills, further developing aquatic readiness.
