Attending Board Meetings

Board Meetings
The Board of Education meets in regular sessions held twice a month. Meeting dates, place and times are established by  the Board at its first meeting in January. Occasional changes are published on the web site and if time allows, in the Hudson Hub-Times and on the HCTV bulletin board. To verify a meeting date, please call the Superintendent's Office at 330-653-1216 or the Treasurer's Office at 330-653-1270.

The Board typically meets the second and fourth Mondays of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the Media Center of the High School at 2500 Hudson-Aurora Road. The dates for 2012-2013 are also listed on the Web site main page calendar.

Special Meetings may be called by the Board, with a 24-hour notification to the media.

The first meeting of each month has been designated as a working-discussion meeting; the second meeting of each month will be a more formal business meeting. Most actions of the Board will be taken at the second meeting.

Agendas of each meeting are available for the public on the BOE web page and at the meeting.

All regular and special meetings of the Board of Education are open to the public under the Sunshine Law of the State of Ohio 121.22. They are also viewed during the week on HCTV channel 26, Hudson's Cable TV station. By law, the Board may also vote in an open session to hold an executive session, which is closed to the public. When the Board votes to hold an executive session, it must state the purpose of that session.

Topics eligible for executive session are: review of personnel matters such as dismissal, promotion, demotion or compensation; the purchase or sale of property, negotiations; and conferences with legal counsel regarding pending court action. Any actions taken by the Board that result from these sessions must be taken at a public meeting.

Input from Residents
The Hudson Board of Education welcomes input from the residents of the school district. Comments from the audience are invited during the meeting in the following ways: comments concerning items on the Agenda and, toward the end of the meeting, general comments. Comments are routinely limited to 3 minutes in length; however, the Board reserves the right to reduce or increase the time period for comments by any person as it deems appropriate.

Please remember this a Board meeting held in public; there are no laws regulating public comment. The Board reserves the right to respond or not respond to any particular comment from the floor. Responses to specific questions may require investigation. Every effort will be made to respond in a reasonable time period.

Citizens may also contact the Board members via BOE voice mail, BOE email or in writing. Contact information is located on the BOE web page. Correspondence should be addressed to the Hudson Board of Education, 2400 Hudson-Aurora Road, Hudson, Ohio 44236.

Coffee with a Board of Education Member

Board of Education members hold monthly coffees with residents that are rotated at either Caribou Coffee, Panera or Starbucks in Hudson. Come join a Board member and discuss issues of importance about the Hudson City School district in an informal setting. The coffees are held twice a month, one AM and one PM, unless otherwise announced. Watch the Hudson Hub-Times or check the District Calendar located on the main page for dates, times and location.
